Timex FAQ

Timex in collaboration with the Bored Ape Yacht Club Community

This project is another first for Timex, a brand that has been disrupting the industry since 1854. By entering Web3 the brand is well positioned to expand its global footprint in new and innovative ways. For this specific project, we aligned with the BAYC community - pioneers in this movement to bring the best possible virtual and physical products to market.

Timex®, the #1 selling watch brand in the United States, is going bananas over its partnership with the Bored Ape Yacht Club community as its first foray into Web3 by launching a BAYC customizable watch and digital collectible.

Though 10,000 Bored Apes and 20,000 Mutant Ape NFTs are in circulation, only 500 NFTs and watches will be sold. The physical and virtual timepieces are using the iconic Waterbury style and are available in gold-tone, silver-tone, rose-gold and black and will showcase the holder’s Ape with token numbers etched into the clasps.  Customizable features include stainless steel and leather bands created specifically for the collection, watch dial designs, and personalized etchings on case backs and clasps.

On mint day you will be purchasing a forge pass that will allow you to redeem a customizable digital collectible and a customizable physical watch. Only forge pass holders that are allowed to customize their watch are Bored Ape and Mutant Ape holders. You will then receive a physical watch via mail, along with an NFT representation of the watch you customized.

The consumer will create their own custom design using four different color options of Timex’s cornerstone heritage collection, Waterbury Classic. The clean silhouette of Waterbury Classic is perfect to showcase the BAYC NFT image. Through the website the owner can virtually build their watch by selecting the case, crown and hand color as well as a variety of leather straps and metal bracelets created for this unique opportunity. The dial will feature the owner’s NFT image and the case back will be custom laser etched with the owner’s selected options, which can include the NFT image or serial number. The metal bracelet and the traditional leather straps will also have options to be uniquely one-of-a-kind with the optional addition of laser etching. No two watches will be alike.

Waterbury Classic is a 40mm case size, rated 50 meters water resistant, created in stainless steel and features a Timex designed and created quartz movement. The crystal is mineral glass, which provides the perfect balance of durability and scratch resistance. The bracelet is a multi-link design executed in solid links of stainless steel. The straps range from traditional black and brown, both created from natural leather derived from the SB Foot Tanning Company in Red Wing Minnesota, to the non-traditional which feature digitally printed patterns designed specifically for this project, placed on a natural leather surface. All strap buckles are stainless steel and will be offered in the natural stainless steel finish as well as Black, Gold and Rose Gold Ionic plated finishes.
